So Sorry

I did not know Wink but was inspired by her sense of color, her artistry and her enthusiasm for crochet. I am 52 but new to the art of crochet and did not know of the modern, current artists around the world. Exploring the international crochet community and seeing the new life breathed into this traditional activity is exciting and Wink was a part of this. When i learned to knit and sew, there was no internet and marching to your own drummer was not as easily accommodated as it is today. I loved her funky aesthetic! I have one too but am not artistic, so I rely on people like Wink for ideas and inspiration! I am so happy to be able to see what people around the world are doing. I have learned a lot from Wink and her vibrant approach to crochet. I was very saddened to hear of her death and cannot imagine the loss her family and friends must feel. I am a therapist and work with depression all the time. We have very far to go in my field and I know people are working hard to help others overcome despair and hopelessness. My office space is brightened by crochet- some of which is inspired by Wink. She will live on in small ways in many spaces around the world.
